Nino Salukvadze, a Georgian sports shooter, was born on February 1, 1969, in Tbilisi. A six-time Olympian, she has achieved podium success on three occasions. At just 19 years old, representing the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics, she clinched gold in the women’s 25-meter sporting pistol competition and silver in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event. In a remarkable display of sportsmanship and unity, during the 2008 Summer Olympics, amid conflict between Georgia and Russia, Salukvadze, representing Georgia, and Russian shooter Natalia Paderina, shared a podium moment after Salukvadze won bronze and Paderina secured silver.
