Aleksander Tammert (born February 2, 1973, in Tartu) is an accomplished Estonian discus thrower. At the 2004 Olympics, he originally finished fourth, but following the disqualification of gold medalist Robert Fazekas, Tammert was awarded the bronze medal. A month later, he secured third place at the World Athletics Final. In 2005, Tammert finished fourth at both the World Championships and the World Athletics Final, where fellow Estonian Gerd Kanter won silver medals. In 2006, Tammert earned third place at both the European Championships and the World Athletics Final, with Kanter again taking silver. Tammert’s personal best throw is 70.82 meters (232′ 3 1/2″), achieved on April 15, 2006, in Denton, Texas.
